In Retrospect
A home for members of the Order was first established in 1899. The cornerstone-laying of the present building was held on June 18, 1928, and the home was formally dedicated on January 12, 1929. Enthusiastic members throughout the State contributed to a Loyalty Pledge Drive, which realized sufficient funds to complete the mortgage, which was burned on August 14, 1932.
Administration
We conduct a residence for members of all ages, providing room and board on a month to month basis. Application forms are required and may be obtained through the Secretary of the Home Committee, at 555 Baker St., San Francisco.
The Home is licensed by the State and residents are subject to certain state regulations, provisions of the Constitution of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, and the policies adopted by Grand Parlor.
It is required that residents shall be ambulatory, and of good physical and mental health.
Visitors are welcome, and, when there are unoccupied rooms, members of the Order may avail themselves of the hospitality of the Home, at a nominal cost. Advance reservations for rooms or meals must be made with the Manager, and reservations may be made for social activities by communicating with the Manager and the Home Committee.
The generosity of members of the Order and other friends is greatly appreciated. Contributions and memorial donations are acknowledged by the Secretary of the Home Committee.
